[As the little turtles eat, the Professor stands guard, propping the dumpster's lid open and smiling happily as they gorge themselves on sweets. At one point, he wonders if he should tell them to stop, but he doesn't have the heart to. This is making them happy, he thinks. These children seem to need a little more happiness. And seeing them happy fills his heart with warmth.
This is part of why he lives the way he does, to reach out to those far less fortunate than him. His only goal in life is to feed the hearts and minds of those who are spiritually and intellectually starving. If tonight, he could satisfy the hunger of two small children in a more literal sense, that is just as rewarding.
